Size: 30’ x 30 x 21 feet / 9.1 x 9.1 x 6.4 meters

Attached to cables above the Dumke Arts Plaza in Ogden, Utah is “From where the air is different”. Spanning 30’x30’x21′, this 5-sided, 5-color, tiered polygon is made from 7 miles of extruded PVC film called flagging tape. This extruded PVC film is 100% recyclable through Geckler’s sponsor, Presco.

This is Geckler’s first exterior flagging tape piece that is suspended and she uses the elements to her advantage. The plaza is located in a windy area, causing the hyper-colorful strands to wave and change position with the air currents, animating its movements, reminiscent of a sea anemone or an AI screensaver.

Geckler partnered with Weber State University and the Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery to create this new artwork. With the help of over 20 people, it was constructed off-site and then hoisted in the plaza to its full height of 21 feet.

Special thanks to Presco for helping to make this artwork happen!
