Project Description
Rewritten by machine on new technology
Date: 2013
Location: Museum of Art & History (MOAH), Lancaster, California
Commissioning Agent: Museum of Art & History (MOAH)
Medium: Flagging tape, wood, paint, hardware
Size: 30 x 32 x 30 feet / 9.14 x 9.7536 x 9.14 meters
Using the overhead soffit as an attachment point, five layers of colors streamed down to five concentric squares on the 20×20 foot / 6.1 x 6.1 meters pedestal below. Each layer was offset from its origination point above, creating a swirling funnel-shaped form that guided the viewer into and around the gallery space. A second floor walkway afforded various vistas from which to experience the optical effects of this installation, which was much like a giant moiré pattern.
